Besides providing founds for events that show efforts regarding sustainability, the Sustainable Development Unit of the city of Lausanne and the canton have developed an online help for event organizers. Online by 2019, the new Kitmanif provides these organizers with concrete and tailor-made improvements that enable events to optimally respect the sustainability standards in force in the canton. Montreux · is strongly committed to low-income families by improving the care of children outside the family for a better reconciliation of professional life and privacy. It promotes intercultural and intergenerational exchanges to prevent violence and offers quality housing to its population, accessible to people with disabilities. By creating the Lausanne Office for Immigrants (BLI) in 1971, the city of Lausanne was a pioneer in Switzerland. Today, the BLI directs foreign communities within the various municipal authorities. It also supports their projects promoting the integration of immigrants in Lausanne. As an inclusive town, Lausanne is also certified "Child friendly city" and is in the process to be certified "Age-friendly cities". Lausanne is definitly a living city that knows how to create the living together. Nearly 350 hectares of parks and gardens in Lausanne facilitates this cohesion.

Lausanne and Montreux, both big lacustrine cities of Vaud, are engaged to achieve a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions of 20% before 2020. These Cities of Energy use renewable energies, promote alternative mobility and implement a sustainable management of resources for many years. On the top of academic research and as administrative capital of sport, Lausanne conquires dynamics minds while Montreux enchants since ever with delightful lake view, promenade and international flair. Lausanne and Montreux are in line with the highest performance of the country, listed in the top of rankings like: Adventure Tourism Development Index 2016 Report, Environmental Performance Index 2018, The Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2017, Eco Guide to Mountain Resorts 2014/2015.
